Holbury Lakes Trout Fishery covers 40 acres of Test Valley countryside,
and has been described as "the best-kept secret in Hampshire".
It includes four lakes totalling 7-1/2 acres, each with its own
character; it also has 1000 yards of fishable banks of the River
Dun, a tributary of the Test. The average depth of the lakes is
2+ metres (around 7 feet), and they are kept well stocked with
rainbow and blue trout, plus some brown trout. The River Dun is
stocked with brown trout only, and has a good head of wild fish.
The waters and banks are all lovingly cared for, and the mature
trees around the waters make this one of the most attractive fishing
spots you'll find anywhere. With the Fishery Office (by the car
park), the fishing huts, and the newly fitted out Fishing Barn,
there's plenty of shelter available; and the fishing barn also has
washing and lavatory facilities. Free coffee and tea are available
at the fishery office or the fishing barn.

Holbury is noted for the quality of the fish, and we are very
mindful of the need to preserve its unique ecology. It is a peaceful,
scenic place to fish; with abundant wildlife to be seen, from buzzards
to bank voles. So we always endeavour to manage the lakes, the river,
and the surrounding land with an eye not only to the fishing, but
also to the natural history and ecology aspects which make HolburyHolbury!
Flyfishing
