Holbury Lakes Trout Fishery covers 40 acres of Test Valley countryside,
and has been described as "the best-kept secret in Hampshire".
It includes four lakes totalling 7.5 acres, each with its own
character; it also has 1000 yards of fishable banks of the River
Dun, a tributary of the Test. The average lake depth is 2+ metres (around 7 feet), and they are kept well stocked
with rainbow and blue trout, plus some brown trout. The River
Dun is stocked with brown trout only, and has a good head of
wild fish.
The waters and banks are all lovingly cared for,
and the mature trees around the waters make this
one of the most attractive fishing spots you'll find
anywhere. With the Fishery Office (by the car park),
the fishing huts, and the newly fitted out Fishing
Barn, there's plenty of shelter available; and the
fishing barn also has washing and lavatory facilities.
Free coffee and tea are available at the fishery
office or the fishing barn.

Holbury is noted for the quality of the fish, and
we are very mindful of the need to preserve its unique
ecology. It is a peaceful, scenic place to fish;
with abundant wildlife to be seen, from buzzards
to bank voles. So we always endeavour to manage the
lakes, the river, and the surrounding land with an
eye not only to the fishing, but also to the natural
history and ecology aspects which make HolburyHolbury!
Flyfishing
tuition is available by arrangement for flyfishers of all abilities.
We look forward to meeting all customers, old and new, visiting
us. (Look for the subtle improvments!)
Corporate Days
Each year, some fishing days at Holbury are booked up for corporate
days, and the fishery is then closed to others. To check on fully
booked days, click here (page may take a few seconds to load).
